Karl Marx was born in Germany in 1818. He was an important figure in sociology, philosophy, political theory and economy. Marx’s class struggle theories, capitalism and revolutionary ideas remain important in historical development. His major works include “Capital”, “The Communist Manifesto”, “The German Ideology”, “The Jewish Question” and “The Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844”.
In this digital map, we aim to explore the life and ideas of Karl Marx, with a specific focus on ten locations which are closely related to Marx’s work. The locations include Trier, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Cologne, Paris, Brussels, Manchester, Switzerland and London. We will not cover all the important works from Marx mentioned above. Instead, we focus on five of his important works. They are “The German Ideology”, “The Communist Manifesto”,“The Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844” “Wage labour and capital” and “Das Kapital”.
